Creating a Listing

Auctions, Buy It Now, photos, descriptions and pricing.

How do I create a listing?

Click Sell in the top navigation bar. You'll need a verified email address and a connected Stripe account before your listing can go live. If you haven't connected Stripe yet, you'll be prompted to do so before your first listing is published.

What listing formats are available?

You can choose between Auction and Buy It Now. With an Auction, you set a starting price and buyers bid — the highest bidder when the auction closes wins. With Buy It Now, you set a fixed price and buyers can purchase immediately.

What is a reserve price?

A reserve price is a hidden minimum amount you're willing to accept on an auction. If bidding doesn't reach the reserve, the item won't sell. You can set a reserve price when creating an auction listing.

How long can a listing run for?

Auction listings can run for 1–14 days. Buy It Now listings can run for up to 1 year. You can also schedule a listing to start at a specific date and time — useful for timing auctions to end at peak hours.

How many photos can I add?

You can upload up to 10 photos per listing. The first photo is used as the thumbnail in search results and category pages, so make it your best one. Photos must be your own — stock images are not permitted.

What makes a good listing title?

Use words buyers actually search for. Include the common name and scientific name where relevant, and add specific details like size, age, colour morph, or quantity. For example: "Albino Bristlenose Pleco 4–6cm – captive bred pair" is much more searchable than "nice fish for sale".

What should I include in the description?

Include the species, size, age, sex (if known), water parameters the animal has been kept in (pH, temperature, hardness), diet, tank mates, and how long you've had the animal. Be honest about any defects or concerns — accurate descriptions lead to better reviews.

Can I edit a listing after it's live?

Yes — most fields can be edited at any time from Account → Selling → Active. On a live auction with active bids, some fields such as the starting price may be locked to protect buyers.

Can I relist an unsold item?

Yes. If your auction ends without selling or a Buy It Now listing expires, you can create a new listing. Consider reviewing your photos, price and description before relisting.

What can I sell on AquaLots?

AquaLots is for live fish, invertebrates, plants, corals, and aquarium equipment. Some species are restricted or banned under UK law — see the Seller Guide for the full list of prohibited items before listing.
